This Merlot captures the eye with a ruby red color, and the nose with an even palate of red berries, black berries and stone fruit. The transition into the mouth is pleasant and rewarding with lingering warmth of soft tannins in the finish.

Food Pairing
This Merlot provides enjoyable pairings with savory foods that benefit from the softer tannic structure of this remarkable Merlot. It also pairs well in the role of a Merlot, with hard cheeses and grilled meats.

“Our exceptional team is made up of two accomplished winemakers: Sara Gott, internationally acclaimed for her success at Joseph Phelps and her brilliant stint at Quintessa, is our head winemaker. We were thrilled to have Marie-Laure Ammons join Oakville East to assist Sara in 2009. After working in France at Domaine Lejeune in Pommard, Chateau de Pressac Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Dulong Negociant in Bordeaux, Marie-Laure arrived in California in 1998. She also works with Philippe Melka and brings a remarkable French point of view to our winemaking and blending.”

A complex mix of refined Bordeaux varieties, with spice, currant, cedar, mineral and tobacco notes. Full-bodied, with a pleasant olive edge, turning more subdued and delicate on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Wine Enthusiast
91 Points: This shows classic valley-floor aspects of dusty tannin, brushy sage and cedar, staying true to the Bordeaux varieties it holds. Pencil lead and mocha accent the medium-bodied background, while soft, pillowy tannins are approachable.

tasting notes from the vineyard……
This monstrously beguiling wine, sutures together a full bodied, dark garnet preposterously multifaceted vivacious wine. A shockingly mischievous elegance defined by bewitching intense sweet blackcurrant, Fuji apple, hibiscus, plum, raspberry, cinnamon, and mocha aromas galumph into a fiendishly bright and balanced fruit, tannin and acid structure.

The grotesquely bright mid pallet fruit shuffles in exquisitely balanced flavors of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, key lime, stone fruit, cherry and plum that excite horror in those unfamiliar with our miscreant Cabernet Franc. Boris and Igor are very happy!

Wine Enthusias
90 Points: Leather and peppercorn jump from the glass in this soft, strong wine, powerful in tannin and dusty earth. A gravelly, rocky component plays on the palate around waves of chocolate and black currant, finishing in herb.

Bursting with blackberries, our 2014 Soberanes is more jubilant than brooding. With layers of cola, sarsaparilla, cigar box, and cedar, this wine is nuanced and deep. Berries, mocha, and dried herbs lift the palate. She reveals complexity in the glass and smoothness on the finish. Drink now through 2024.

Wine Enthusiast
93 Points: Hearty sagebrush, rust and dust meet with dried Montgomery cherry and tart pomegranate aromas on the nose of this bottling from a Healdsburg-based producer. It’s luscious on the palate with ripe plum fruit and tons of baking spice, from cinnamon to clove cream, nutmeg and vanilla.

Wine Spectator
91 Points: Weaves together a firm mix of dusty berry, cedar, raspberry and anise flavors. Deftly balanced, long and persistent on the finish. Drink now through 2022.

Robert Parker
91 Points: Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard has a lovely potpourri, kirsch and underbrush perfume with hints of wild thyme and damp loam. Light to medium-bodied, it has a very soft-spoken character, with beautifully silken tannins and great persistence.

Skyfall Vineyard was named for massive car-sized boulders scattered among the vines, appearing to have fallen from the sky. These glacial rocks were left in the wake of the ancient Missoula floods that cut the Columbia River. Floods deposited silty loam soil mixed with volcanic ash for soil conditions that create complex, elegant wines.

Dave Minick, 3rd generation Washington State grower, oversees all vineyard management for consistent, perfectly ripe grapes across Skyfall vineyard sites. All vineyards receive the same environmentally responsible care with minimalist intervention including a new compost program for naturally enriching soils and use of low impact vehicles in vineyards.

Skyfall Vineyard fruit is sourced from Washingtons top AVAs within Columbia Valley including Horse Heaven Hills, Wahluke Slope, and Yakima Valley. Columbia Valley has optimal growing conditions with hot days allowing grapes to ripen and cool nights where acidity develops. This means Skyfall Vineyard wines are well balanced between the crisp acidity, firm tannins, and ripe fruit structure, ready for immediate enjoyment.

Wonderfully developed plum, vanilla and leather aromas swirl in the glass. Juicy flavors of cherry candy coupled with hints of cocoa powder weave through the palate. Balanced acidity and polished tannins on the finish. Very easy drinking and wonderful with meats off the grill.
